Riverstone Estate Wedding of Catherine and Michael

Tell me about the beginning!

We met through mutual friends at parties thrown during our uni days. Michael was very patient and persistent. He finally got a walk out of Catherine which then evolved into coffee dates and we finally had our first kiss at midnight at the very beginning of 2017.

When and where did you get engaged?

We were in Bright. Catherine used to camp there every summer of her life until her early 20’s so the town means a lot to her. We had been there once before for a weekend getaway and did a little hike to a lookout over the town. On our second trip there Michael suggested we go up to the same lookout and proposed!

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

We didn’t have a particular style or theme in mind. We chose a grazing reception because we want it to be a laid back and relaxed day/night and to have a good chance to mingle with all our loved ones. We’ve decided to cut out a few traditions such as the wedding cake, bouquet toss and garter toss as we don’t personally think they add anything to our day and it leaves more time for mingling, drinking and dancing!

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

The last few years have been spectacular but busy with buying a house, slogging it out working, getting a puppy and having our first baby. We are both looking forward to having a day that’s just for us and celebrating all the craziness that has led to this moment with the people that have supported us through our journey.

Top Tips!

1. Try not to overthink it! We didn’t go through a giant list of vendors and venues because we didn’t want to overwhelm ourselves with all the different options out there. If something brought a smile to our face or felt right to us we just booked it.

2. Don’t get caught up in traditions unless they mean something to you. It’s your day, do what you want with whoever you love.
