Wandin Park Estate Wedding of Ebony and Shannon

Tell me about your The Beginning!

We met through mutual friends. We knew OF each other for a long time, however we sort of met properly at the snow at Falls Creek. Ebony was living in Sydney at the time, and we became really good friends just chatting online and then on the phone. Phone calls every now and then became hours on the phone every night talking about music, movies, snowboarding, books, anything and everything. And it became the thing we loked forward to every day – just talking to each other. Soon Ebs moved back to Melbourne and we’ve been inseperable ever since.

When and where did you get engaged?

Mt Hotham! We both love snow and the cold and anything winter-y. We went up there to escape the crazy heat of Melbourne summer in 2019 just before NY. We spent a few days hanging out at Blizzard Brewing, going hiking, playing darts and listening to the live music at The General. As the sun set on our last night away, with an acoustic cover of Bring Me The Horizon’s “Follow You” playing in the background, Ebony delivered the ever so eloquent “do you want to get married?”. Shan, thinking she meant one day in the future, replied with “yeah for sure” and kept drinking his beer before looking up and asking her why she was crying. To which she replied, “Oh, uh, I just asked you to marry me?”. And thankfully Shan responded with “oh wow, fuck yeah!”. Smooth, so smooth LOL.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

Errrmmmmm we just wanted a big party! We want everyone to feel like they’re celebrating from the minute they arrive, so everyone will get a glass of mulled wine or beer when they rock up before the ceremony. We have Zac Saber playing acoustic pre and post ceremony, The Velvet Archers playing for the reception, and our mate will be spinning emo bangers for the last hour of the party. Our main focus has been tunes, food and booze with our favourite humans 🙂 Is that a theme???

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Shan: Marrying my best friend! And I can’t wait for the first look.

Ebs: Ditto! I’m looking forward to starting the day with my girls – I like those small quiet moments. I can’t wait to say our vows. And the dance floor. I’ll be dancing ALL BLOODY NIGHT.

Top Tips!

Outsource as much as you can. Pay for the convenience, to avoid stress. Make the day as easy on yourself as possible, so you can enjoy it all.

If you don’t have a good feeling about a vendor, find someone you gel with – because you will! And they’ll fuel your excitement!

Don’t get bogged down in traditions – if something doesn’t mean anything to you, don’t feel you have to do it or include it! Make your wedding yours, make it meaningful and personal. Make it all about YOUR love.
