Describe your perfect weekend away
Our perfect weekend away would consist of being able to go somewhere that we can switch off and relax, in a beautiful natural setting that we can walk/hike and be away from the hussle and bussle of the city. Good food and time together is the key 🙂
Tell me about any pets and hobbies
We have one little boy, Roo, a 5yr domestic short hair cat who we adopted in Cambridge just before lockdowns. We adopted him from a local shelter and knew immediately that he was our boy. He is confident, loving and very playful. He is our little shadow at home, but also a bit of a pig and loves bread!!
Other hobbies for Caitlin include cycling, photography (hobby level only!!) and collecting enamel pins. For Evan, fixing up his Mini Cooper K from 1971 (which will be our wedding car) is the big ongoing project for the last few years. Playing computer games with friends is a favourite past-time too.
Do you have a party trick?
Caitlin’s is very nerdy – reciting the first 30 elements of the periodic table. Evan can pick up objects with his toes!
If you had a year with no responsibilities, your whole life put on pause, what would you do with it?
Caitlin would travel extensively. Evan would play games with his friends, travel and do lots of walking/hiking 🙂
If you were both trapped on a desert island with a preloaded bluetooth speaker, what would be on your playlist?
We have quite eclectic tastes in music. We both love The Killers, some Tove Lo, Client Liaison, Karnivool and Foals. Caitlin would also add The Clash (Rock the Casbah!), Spice Girls and some Joe Hasashi for down time. Evan would add some 80s ballads (Whitney Houston, Bonnie Tyler)
Top Tips!
It’s hard to think of one single piece of advice, but we were very careful to remember how we wanted our day and not get sucked in to “more more more”. If something is not important to you (eg. Large flower arrangements, favours, bouquet toss, bridal party etc), then don’t do it. We had a small wedding without a lot of additional and it significantly reduced our stress; after the day, those things were still not important. Additionally, I would strongly recommend wearing whichever shoes you want. I wore flat lace-ups which are standard for me, and I was so comfortable all day.
