Tell me about the beginning!
Harvey and I met when Harvey joined my athletics squad ‘MULTUS’ back in the months of 2017. I was 20 years old, and Harvey was 19 years young at the time. Harvey was training for decathlons and I was training for sprint hurdles and pole vault. Harvey’s personality is very introverted and my personality is more extroverted. As the saying goes, opposites attract – and for us, that was true. I was interested into knowing the quiet mind of Harvey, and Harvey was interested into knowing my busy mind. After we trained through our first winter camp together, me made it official in my Hyundai i30 as I dropped him to the train station… let’s just say, he didn’t catch the train home, he got a lift from me, cheeky thing. From then on, the rest was history. We appreciated everything about each other; I think specifically because we were each other’s first partners and lovers. We learnt a lot about each other and ourselves as our relationship grew. What I love most about Harvey is that since being together, he has always actively tried to immerse himself into my Chinese culture, in respect to learning the Cantonese language, getting to know my family and trying our delicacies; whilst I embraced the Aussie slang and the dynamics of his family. 6 years later through academic studies, careers commencing, buying our first home and raising Korra our majestic Border Collie together, here we are planning our wedding and committing ourselves to life together!
When and where did you get engaged?
5 years into dating, we got engaged on November 8th 2022 at Arthur’s Seat, where we had our first date back in 2017.
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
We have chosen a classic and traditional style/theme for our wedding, incorporating beautiful pops of purple and blue colours (our favourite), through our favourite flowers, respectively and together.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
I am very much looking forward to my oyster bar during canapè hour! Harvey and I are also looking forward to eating the reception food and seeing everyone so dressed up for our day!
Top Tips!
Plan early, but not too early because what you think you want/like may change closer to the wedding date! Don’t be bullied into the politics of wedding – particularly with the guest list. Always find at least 3 quotes from different suppliers and negotiate pricing too! Never lose sight that it is your wedding, not your mum’s or your friends – It’s time to be selfish with what you and your partner wants – don’t cater and sacrifice your wants and needs because of your guests.
