Stones of the Yarra Valley Wedding of Natalie and David

Tell me about the beginning!

Tale as old as time…. Tinder. But with a love story twist, David shortly after joined the army so the only way we could communicate was via hand written letters, very much a “The Notebook” moment. But like most love stories, timing is everything. It didnt work out, but we remained best friends, talking all the time. Until the timing was right, and from that moment on we havent left each others side.
To me, it feels like soul mates, who instead of accepting that the initial timing wasnt right, so moving on, the universe waited until everything fell into place.
David – Very much in the same park as Natalie, however I might add that I was always sure she was the one for me- and patience being a virtue and all that- eventually she came around (again) and now here we are!

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged just before my 30th Birthday. I had always said I wanted to be engaged before 30, and he managed it with three days spare!
I shall let David fill in his side of the story here:
My plan for the actual day involved taking a trip down to the pennisula for a tasting at 10mins by Tractor winery with a proposal through the vines. Upon going there however I was panicked to see that the vines were closed off- so off to a secondary location- a beautiful greek restaurant for lunch overseeing the valleys with a gorgeous lookout I could use as a backdrop, if it weren’t for the bus load of tourists that also had the same idea about the view and proposing in front of 50 eager tourists just wasn’t what I had in mind. So with a final last minute hail mary- I took her to the sculpture park in St. Leo’s which allowed us a wine in hand to roam around the park. I co-ordinated my steps so that our tour took us away from the crowds and finally plucked up the courage to “take her picture” in front of a lake. At this stage my pretense was up and I “subtly” got closer and closer with the camera until i was down on one knee… thankfully she said yes.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

We want something very playful, fun, filled with colour candles and fairy lights. We want this to be a celebration, and a more relaxed day.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Finally being able to call David my husband. Thats so exciting, to be able to move together to the next chapter of our epic love story. Personally, what i love most is hiring the best photographer in the business, so we can relive special moments again and again.
David – Enjoying it! Anyone who says wedding planning isn’t stressful is a liar. I’m excited for what’s to come, to be able to enter a room as husband and wife- and celebrate with the closest friends and family…and the food!

Top Tips!

Trust your gut, and not other peoples. Do what you want, it is your day. If you care about it, its not stupid.
And know, everyone freaks out about is it the right dress (yes it is), should i worry about the table (if its important to you sure, but really focus on how you want people to feel).
David- it doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be perfect for you. Also…communication is key.
