Immerse Winery Wedding of Erin and Kris

Tell me about your The Beginning!
We first met at a University Of Melbourne Baseball Club trivia night. We were briefly introduced, although didn’t spend long chatting as Kris was in charge of the evening so had to run off. We had the chance to get to know each other a bit further through University Games team meetings, where Kris claims he was nervous to even chat to Erin. Fast forward to unigames in Adelaide 2012 (Kris on the baseball team, and Erin on the softball team), throw in a pair of handcuffs (it’s another story!) and our spark ignited. It took Kris a few weeks after that to muster up the courage to ask Erin on their first date (pasta & gelato on Lygon Street) but it was a very memorable one.

When and where did you get engaged?
Kris proposed to Erin in Tokyo, Japan whilst away on holiday. He had secretly spoken with Geoff and Siobhan ahead of time, which included Siobhan doing some reconnaissance work before they arrived so that Kris knew the best spots to consider.

On the day, Kris took Erin first to a Michelin star Ramen restaurant for lunch, where they waited in line for over an hour for the delicious dish. After that, they returned to the hotel to get ready to go out for dinner. Before dinner, they headed to the Tokyo Sky Tree to watch sunset. This had been where Kris intended to propose but it was too crowded. Thinking on his feet quickly with Siobhan’s suggestions, they made their way to Sensoji Temple to see it lit up at night.

Upon arrival, they wandered around so that Kris could scope out the best spot. They approached a fortune teller but didn’t have enough coins so kept wandering. Unbeknownst to Kris, Erin was going to wish Kris would propose soon if they had made a wish for their fortune…little did she know about 5 minutes later, he did! Trying to capture the memory forever, Kris told Erin to go stand in front of one of the temples for a photo, and he would put a timed photo on so he could join her. Erin wasn’t aware at the time that Kris was instead filming the entire thing, and as he approached Erin (who was flustered he wasn’t moving quickly enough to get in position for the 10 second photo), Kris got down on one knee to propose. Erin was in total shock, gasping “Are you serious?!” before excitedly saying “YES!”.

To celebrate the occasion, Kris and Erin headed to another Michelin star restaurant for dinner, indulging in some of Japan’s fine dining scene. It will certainly go down in history as one of their most memorable days together!
