Tell me about your The Beginning!
Our first date was a relaxing picnic in the Werribee Mansion gardens. Neither of us have an interest in horticulture, but this was the only area that our lockdown radiuses crossed.
Although the date started with Harrison insisting to fix the car radio with a butter knife, and Martinette getting called into work, we’re getting married on the same day 4 years later!
When and where did you get engaged?
On Dec 8th 2022, the question was popped on a remote mountain overlooking Lake Wānaka. Disguised as a fishing trip, which Martinette was unenthusiastic about, Harrison instead drove straight to an airport.
Luckily the proposal flight remained a surprise as Martinette didn’t take much notice of Harrison’s recent obsession with helicopters and the weather forecast!
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
For our wedding day, we’ve chosen a rustic Tuscan theme, inspired by the beautiful of Stones of the Yarra Valley. We’re embracing the venue’s Tuscan influence with rustic styling, featuring earthy tones, wooden accents, and lush greenery. Our aim is to create a warm and intimate atmosphere for our guests.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
We’re most looking forward to the Three Fs – Family, Friends, and Food! We’re excited not only about getting married and making our lifelong commitment to each other but also about enjoying every part of the day – from getting ready with loved ones to saying our vows. Most of all, we can’t wait to simply spend time together, celebrating and having a great time with everyone there.
Top Tips!
Treat your wedding planning like a marathon – pace yourself, take things one step at a time, and don’t forget to prepare! We found that using Excel spreadsheets and meeting with vendors early on helped us stay organised (and avoid a few surprises!). Finally, remember that you’ll hear plenty of opinions, but it’s your special day, so trust your instincts and follow your heart.
