Projekt 3488 Wedding of Kat and Vincent

April 5, 2025

Tell me about The Beginning!

Kathryn and Vincent met in 2013 on a schoolies trip in Sorrento through mutual friends (their single-sex schools were brother and sister schools). Their first date was at a café on Burgundy St in Heidelberg, the ultimate hook-up spot for OLMC-Marcellin students. Vincent was captivated by Kathryn – her wit, intelligence, and depth – and asked out her out a couple more times. Kathryn was caught-off guard by how special her coffee with Vincent was, yet she remained dedicated to her ‘single girl era’, embracing the start of her university journey. As Kathryn flexed her singledom, she kept bumping into Vincent around Melbourne Uni and saw at a distance how grounded, respectful and down-to-earth he was; she was particularly drawn by his deep, resonant laughter. As Vincent gave Kathryn her space, Kathryn decided pretty quickly that she did not like the space (!) and so started asking Vincent out for coffee dates along Lygon St around Uni. By the end of their first Uni year, Kathryn gave Vincent a little love note (which Vincent mistook for a birthday card) outside the Maths and Stats building (Vincent was studying Engineering and, Kathryn, Maths for Secondary Teaching), asking him to reconsider a ‘more than friendship’. The rest is history!

When and where did you get engaged?

Vincent proposed to Kathryn in Tasmania on a lovely beach cove overlooking mountains in the Tasman Peninsula (Eaglehawk Neck). This was on the 28th of December 2023.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

We have the theme of ‘Chosen Family’ as we believe family is more symbolic than genetic; everyone attending the wedding is family to us.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Officiating our love for each other in front of those who we hold dearest and having our wedding in a stunning location, both in landscape and venue. We are also looking forward to having memorable giggles and embraces with friends and family. Finally, a cuddle with our little pet cat, Nairobi!

Top Tips!

Set up an excel spreadsheet early on listing all of the required tasks (it may grow as you learn what you need!) . And finally, (advice that probably relates more to heterosexual couples), if you are a groom, make sure you volunteer to organise as much as possible as your S.O. will have a thousand more decisions to make!
