The Stables at Stones Wedding of Whitney and Lachy

January 13, 2026

Tell me about The Beginning!

We almost met at a Vance Joy concert almost exactly one year to the day before we actually met! My younger sister Marni took me along to the concert as a last minute invite for someone who couldn’t make it and I took a photo of the stage. Years later when discussing what concerts we had been to we realised that Lachy’s head is in the bottom of the photo, sitting only 3 rows ahead of where Marni and I sat!

We are both teachers, and a year later we met properly at Teachers Games in Geelong when my schools team played Lachy’s in a round of Lawn Bowls. There was lots of flirting and giggles and Lachy and I had a bowl together before his school disappeared off to their next sports activity. I made sure to find him that night when we went out to Lamby’s Bar, and I bought him and his friends a round of Jager Bombs. We had a dance together and have been inseparable ever since!

When and where did you get engaged?

Lachy wanted to wait until the school holidays because he knows I love to celebrate all our Anniversary’s. So he took me to a winery in the Yarra Valley on a random Wednesday in April. After a platter and a few wines he wanted to walk around the property to have a look but I knew we had a lunch reservation at another winery so I kept saying we had better hurry and get in the car. Lachy wanted to keep walking down this big long dirt road lined with huge oak trees. I kept saying “come on! There’s nothing down here, let’s go!” But he insisted on walking further and further, saying “I think there’s something down here”. At one point I finally had enough and turned around to go back to the car and Lachy was behind me on one knee. I burst into tears immediately!

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

We knew right from the start that we wanted a winery wedding. The greenery of the winery, the hydrangeas and the vines all jumped out at us when we were touring properties and we love the whole aesthetic of Stones.
For the colour scheme we have chosen black, and shades of white, with a splatter of greenery in the florals. We wanted our wedding to be formal, but loved the contrast of the rustic details of The Stables and the names and history of the property, as I grew up on a Dairy Farm and rode horses all my life. It felt meant to be when we found Stones.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

We can’t wait to see it all come together and see all our ideas brought to life but I’m super excited about our live illustrator Halle, who will create out guest favours! A beautiful memento of the day, a frozen moment in time for our guests to take home and re-live the magic.

Top Tips!

Relax and enjoy the process! It can be easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and it can feel exhausting but you will probably never plan something this carefully curated again, so enjoy all the appointments and decisions, knowing it will all come together when it needs to.
